The IFS has launched a landmark pilot project “Sanjivini” for uplifting women’s reproductive health in India in 6 states to begin with: Kashmir, Haryana, Bihar, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. Our IFS state teams with national executives would be leading the mission.

In Kashmir 1st Camp of Sanjivini was held on 25th July 2024 “The World IVF Day” at PHC Kunzar, Block Kunzar, District Baramulla. The team was lead by IFS Add. Joint Secretary and Patron IFS Kashmir Chapter Dr Syed Sajjad Hussain and was joined by IFS Kashmir Joint Secretary Dr Snober Gulsha, Treasurer Dr Saika Zahoor, IFS Kashmir Executives Dr Masooda Shah, Dr Rabia Shah and others.

The 1st Camp was inaugurated by Sr IAS Officer Farroq Ahmed Shah, CMO Baramulla Dr Mastoora Iqbal, IFS Add Joint Secretary Dr Syed Sajjad Hussain, Block Medical Officer Kunzer, Baramulla Dr Ruqaya Showkat, Sr. Medical Officer Kunzer Dr Rifat Bashir, District Health Educator Abdul Rashid Reshi and Registrar Pathology Govt SKIMS Medical College Dr Shazia Mushtaq. The hall of 250 seats was full with some healthcare workers standing from the doors. More than 150 health workers, ASHA workers, Aagan Wadi Workers and some doctors from Govt dispensaries, Govt Medical Aid Centres and PHCs of District Baramulla, in addition to about 93 infertile couples from far flung areas of Baramulla District attended this IFS Sanjivni Camp. In the camp Flip Charts of IFS “Sanjivni” were released for the Awareness of Healthcare workers on the basic topics like Menstrual Hygiene, Breast Cancer Awareness, Cervical Cancer Awareness, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and Fertility Myths by Sr IAS Officer, CMO Baramulla, IFS Add Joint Secretary, Block Medical Officer Kunzer, Baramulla, Sr. Medical Officer Kunzer, District Health Educator and Registrar Pathology Govt SKIMS Medical College.

The Add. Joint Secretary Indian Fertility Society and Patron IFS Kashmir Chapter Dr Syed Sajjad Hussain also released and handed over the Guidelines of Indian ART & Surrogacy Act 2021 to Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dr Mastoora Iqbal compiled by Indian Fertility Society.

The gift wrapped 10 Clocks from Intas Pharma were distributed to the Government Authorities, CMO, BMO, DHE and other doctors present. The tea and light snacks with mineral water served to all the authorities, doctors, Healthcare and ASHA workers. Some patients from far flung areas also served with snacks, tea and water.

After the release of Patient awareness Flip Charts and videos in Kashmiri Language at Block Hall Kunzar, the Patient Consultation & awareness session was then held at OPD Block of PHC Kunzer. The PHC Kunzer OPD block was flooded with patients, patients were waiting from the early morning in the ques till our arrival. The patients were mostly the couples with primary and secondary infertility of 3 to 22 years including some other disorders. Around 93 patients were seen by the specialist doctors of IFS Kashmir team. The paramedical staff of MED AGE IVF Centre, Srinagar noted down the case histories of all the patients before they were given the proper guidance, awareness, consultation and referral by the specialist doctors of IFS Kashmir. Till late evening, the IFS Doctors team ensured that no patient left without their consultation. Then IFS team visited nearby Drang waterfall to relax for some minutes before returning to Srinagar late evening.

The next Camp of IFS “Sanjivini” will be held at PHC Hajin, Block Hajin, District Bandipora on 10th August 2024, which has been already circulated by the concerned Government administrative and health authorities.
