
IFS–BFS YOUNG RESEARCHER TRAVEL AWARD
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The Indian Fertility Society (IFS) is pleased to announce the IFS–BFS Young Researcher Travel Award, instituted in collaboration with the British Fertility Society, to encourage young clinicians, embryologists, scientists, and researchers working in the field of reproductive medicine, infertility, embryology, and allied sciences.
This award aims to support promising young researchers by providing them an opportunity to present their scientific work, interact with international experts, and gain exposure to global academic platforms in reproductive medicine. The best original research awardee will present their work at the annual meeting of British Fertility Society (Belfast, 12-15th January, 2027). The award involves free registration and accommodation for the awardee from the BFS . Travel to the UK will not be covered by the award.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants may include:
- Young clinicians in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine, or infertility.
- Embryologists and ART laboratory professionals.
- PhD scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and basic scientists.
- Fellows and trainees in reproductive medicine or embryology.
- Early-career faculty or consultants with a demonstrated interest in research.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Be a member of the Indian Fertility Society.
- Be an early-career professional, researcher, trainee, fellow, or young faculty member.
- Should be less than 35years
- Demonstrate a clear academic interest in reproductive medicine, infertility, embryology, or allied sciences, through research work that is original.
- Research work needs to be endorsed by the Dean/ Principal/ Director/Head of institution/Superintendent of hospital/Head of department/ President of the society. That the research work is original and conducted at their Institute/Centre
- A short CV mentioning the IFS membership number, age, degrees, duration of research work, email and contact mobile number.
- Only one entry is permitted per candidate.
- Have sufficient funds to support their travel and visa.
Format of submission
- Cover page should carry the name /affiliations/ title of research work
- Abstract (no more than 200 words) of the research work indicating synopsis of the research work (purpose/aims of study, methods, results and conclusions)
- Detailed research work (no more than 3000 words), with following headings: Background, Aims and Objectives, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and references. Do not mention the institute or affiliations in the main text.
- Use standard academic fonts (e.g., Times New Roman, Arial) at 12pt size with single line spacing
- Submission can be made at the FERTIVION 2026 website (click submit your abstract for IFS-BFS young researcher travel award)
SELECTION PROCESS
Applications will be reviewed by a joint selection committee nominated by IFS.
Office bearers of IFS are not to be considered eligible for jury.
Selection will be based on:
- Scientific merit and originality of the research.
- Relevance to reproductive medicine, infertility, embryology, or ART.
- Quality of the abstract and proposed presentation.
- Clarity of purpose and expected academic benefit.
Last Date for Submission-15th September, 2026
- Incomplete applications or applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Declaration of Results
- The selected candidates will be informed of the results over mail by 15th October 2026, so as to give sufficient time to apply for UK visa
- While the best research work gets to travel to annual meeting of BFS, the second and third awards will present their research work in the main conference.
- The awardee should on return submit a brief report on the experience gained through attendance at the BFS meeting with 30 days of return.
